HIT legislation in the works
EHR Connection, April 19, 2005
TechnologyDaily last week looked at two new bills that could provide funding for HIT initiatives.
Reps. Patrick Kennedy (D-RI) and Timothy Murphy (R-PA) are expected to introduce legislation that would allocate $50 million for 20 competitive grants to support pilot regional health information organizations. The bill, which is expected to be introduced in the next three weeks, could increase physicians' Medicare reimbursements and support electronic prescribing, TechnologyDaily reports.
