Louisiana joins state HIT initiative
EHR Connection, March 14, 2005
Last Thursday, Louisiana became the second state, after New York, to join the eHealth Initiative Foundation's State Health Information Technology Policy Summit Initiative, a program bringing state policy officials together with healthcare, consumer, and business leaders to help improve healthcare through IT, according to an eHealth Initiative press release.
The initiative for Louisiana will:
- raise awareness of what federal HIT policy means for states and regions across the country
- support stakeholder investment in HIT
- develop priorities for health information exchange at the state and local levels
- identify areas where state laws can hinder, instead of facilitate, HIT implementation
- align nationally accepted standards with work going on at the state and regional levels
Louisiana State HIT Policy Summit leaders scheduled July and September meetings.
