State approves overhaul of board of examiners

LTC Liability Monitor, March 9, 2005

Oklahoma lawmakers unanimously approved a bill that will completely revamp the State Board of Examiners for Nursing Home Administrators, the Oklahoma City Journal Record reported. The legislation comes in response to concerns over the board's past policies and procedures, including the possibility that private proceedings may have violated the state's open meeting law.

The new bill redefines the mission and responsibilities of the board and changes its membership structure. Five of the 13 appointed members must now be licensed administrators, three must be from the general public, and none of the remaining five members may have any financial interest in nursing homes, according to the Journal.
