Texas ASCs win reimbursement boost
Ambulatory Surgery Reimbursement Update, March 8, 2005
Ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) in Texas will soon receive separate reimbursement of surgically implanted, inserted, or otherwise applied devices at their invoice cost following an amendment to the state's ASC Fee Guideline rule.
The amendment to Rule 134.402, which will take effect April 1, 2005, adds and assigns billing groupers to 10 procedure codes not included on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ASC-list of approved procedures.
The amendment, passed unanimously by the Texas Workers Compensation Commission (TWCC), also allows for other procedures omitted from the ASC-list to be performed by prospective agreement between provider and carrier, the American Association of Ambulatory Surgery Centers (AAASC) reported on its Web site.
