Survey results: EHR cost falling
EHR Connection, March 7, 2005
Integrated electronic records and practice management systems cost an average of $7,232 per physician in 2004, while an individual records system cost $5,537 and an individual practice management system cost $4,189, according to an American Academy of Family Physicians survey conducted in late 2004.
The cost of electronic records last year fell below the "$10,000 per physician per year threshold" that experts said needed to be achieved in order for widespread adoption, reports Health Data Management.
The survey indicated that the price of electronic records is still far above the $100 per month per physician goal that David Brailer, MD, PhD, national health information technology coordinator, has requested.
