Kentucky House passes health network bill
EHR Connection, March 7, 2005
The Kentucky House last week approved a bill that would make Kentucky the first state to launch an electronic health network, reports the Louisville Courier-Journal. The statewide network would connect physicians, hospitals, and pharmacies, and would take three to five years to build.
The Senate already approved the bill and it has been sent to Gov. Ernie Fletcher (R), who has endorsed the legislation.
This bill would also create the Kentucky Health Care Infrastructure Authority to raise funds to support the initiative. The measure calls for the state to spend $360,000 to help build the network, the Courier-Journal reports.
