Husband sues assisted living facility
LTC Liability Monitor, March 2, 2005
A Connecticut man is suing the administrator and owners of the Florida assisted living facility that employed his wife's alleged murderer, the Ft. Pierce [FL] Tribune reported. Joan Loughman was in Florida to care for her father, who was a resident of Lyford Cove at Lawnwood, Hutchinson Island, FL, when she was allegedly bludgeoned to death by Andrew Michael Gosciminski, the community outreach director at the facility.
The wrongful death suit claims the facility failed to do a proper background check on Gosciminski. His criminal record includes charges of fraud and larceny that did not show up on his background check.
Lawyers for the administrator and the facility contend that they were not negligent in the check, the Tribune reported.
