Three suspects chased through hospital
Healthcare Security Weekly, February 7, 2005
Three men fleeing police were arrested last week at Deaconess Billings (MT) Clinic after crashing a hospital van and running through the facility, the Billings Gazette reported. Hospital staff aided in the arrests.
Bernard Decoteau, 36, was arrested after he escaped a North Dakota prison. Ricky Peltier, 32, was arrested on outstanding warrants. Police released the third man after they determined he had no outstanding warrants.
After stealing and crashing the hospital van, the three men burst through the hospital doors in the morning. A hospital staff member tripped one of the men in the main lobby. Sheriff deputies arrested the man as he lay on the floor.
Police later caught the second man after he ran through the hospital into a nearby daycare facility.
The third man entered the pediatrics department and fled down a service hallway before being captured.
There were no injuries to hospital patients, staff, or visitors, Deaconess spokesman Jim Duncan told the Gazette.
