Innovations push EHR adoption
EHR Connection, February 17, 2005
The Wall Street Journal on Wednesday outlined the top five innovations that are pushing EHR adoption to completely revolutionize healthcare.
"The average patient is still a long way from having an electronic medical record that can be shared among different doctors and hospitals," the Journal reports. However, electronic record systems include several tools that can help catch errors, monitor patients and provide care reminders to physicians and nurses.
The Journal awarded the following "top five innovation" status:
- Computerized physician order entry
- Clinical decision support systems
- Electronic prescribing systems
- Patient tracking and verification systems
- National health information infrastructure
