Amendment could mean profiling for NY ASCs
Ambulatory Surgery Reimbursement Update, February 15, 2005
Ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) in New York could be subject to data collection to improve patient safety and healthcare quality.
An amendment to a bill on collecting health information (assembly bill 2341), introduced January 25, states that the department of health will create individual profiles for ASCs and licensed hospitals. The information gathered from the profiling will be available to the public.
The profile will include general details about the ASC, including the name of the facility, address, services offered, and the number of certified beds. It will also contain information about number of department complaint investigations, deficiencies reported, and selected financial data from the ASCs annual cost report.
