Unlicensed nurse investigated
LTC Liability Monitor, January 26, 2005
State regulators are investigating a man who worked at a Texas nursing home without a nursing license, Medicine & Law Weekly reported. David Wayne Rhodes was promoted briefly to clinical services director at Brentwood Place nursing home in Dallas, TX, last year before being fired following an anonymous tip to the state nursing board. He had been employed by the facility twice since 1994.
Texas nursing homes are required to verify that all nurses are licensed, but a nursing board investigator said there was no record of Brentwood checking Rhodes' license status. In the role of clinical services director, Rhodes would have been responsible for checking the certification of the facility's nurses. Administrators at Brentwood Place are cooperating with the Texas Medicaid fraud control unit, Medicine & Law Weekly reported.
