Providers hesitant to adopt EHRs
EHR Connection, January 25, 2005
Without established interoperability standards healthcare providers are hesitant to adopt electronic health records, according to Commission on Systemic Interoperability speakers, IDG News Service reports.
Hospitals and physician practices are concerned EHR software they purchase now might not work with future industry of government, said Dr. Mark Leavitt, medical director of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, according to IDG News Service.
The commission is charged with developing a strategic plan for the national HIT infrastructure and must create the interoperability plan by October.
