State to bail out veterans' homes
LTC Liability Monitor, January 20, 2005
The Mississippi Senate and House voted unanimously to allot $2.3 million for four veterans' nursing homes to pay off their debt, The Clarion-Ledger of Jackson, MS, reported. The four nursing homes suffer from a shortage of state nurses and owe back payments to temporary staffing agencies and vendors. The homes, which have the combined capacity to house 600 veterans, were about to have their utilities turned off and their employees placed on furlough before the vote. The governor must approve the funding bill before it goes into effect, the Clarion-Ledger reported.
