Alzheimer's association proposes more education for aides
LTC Liability Monitor, December 28, 2004
The Massachusetts chapter of the Alzheimer's Association has filed legislation that would require all caretakers to complete at least 12 hours of training specifically on Alzheimer's and dementia, reported the Boston Globe.
This comes while a Massachusetts nursing aide is on trial for physically and sexually abusing several Alzheimer's patients in her care. The aide's lawyer claims she was subject to combative patients and a large workload and was providing the best care possible, according to the Globe.
