Fired ALF employees file discrimination suit
LTC Liability Monitor, December 21, 2004
Two women have sued a Fortuna, CA assisted living facility for discrimination after they were allegedly fired when their employer discovered they were a lesbian couple, according to the Associated Press. The women-an administrator and an activities director/marketer-have filed a complaint with the California Department of Fair Housing and Employment alleging discrimination based on sexual orientation.
The women say they received good evaluations and company awards for their work while employed at the ALF, but both were told they were being fired for poor performance, reported AP.
