Nurse charged with stealing painkillers from hospital
Healthcare Security Weekly, December 20, 2004
A nurse at William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital was charged last week with stealing a painkilling drug from the Madison, WI, hospital, the Capital Times reported.
Kathryn A. Brown, 50, faces charges of allegedly stealing Fentanyl from the hospital by signing out more of the drug than she actually gave to patients and keeping the excess amount. Fentanyl is a narcotic analgesic used to treat pain in cancer patients.
Brown admitted to a supervisor that she stole the drug, the Times reported.
