Scottish health group begs hospital visitors to improve hygiene
Quality Improvement Monitor, December 16, 2004
The health group Quality Improvement Scotland recently launched a campaign to encourage hospital visitors to improve their hygiene to reduce infections, according to the British Broadcasting Corp.
The group asks all visitors to stay away from hospitals if they have any type of infection. Visitors should also wash their hands before entering any hospital ward.
Nearly one in 10 patients in Scottish hospitals receive an infection while in the hospital, Quality Improvement Scotland said. Many of the infections in hospitals are carried in from outside, according to the group.
