Backlog in Medicaid applications hurts nursing homes
LTC Liability Monitor, December 15, 2004
A backlog in Medicaid applications is pushing Colorado nursing homes into a financial crisis, reported the Denver, CO Rocky Mountain News. In a testimony against the state, John Brammeier, vice president of the Colorado Association of Homes and Services for the Aging, said facilities are unable to pay food vendors and other service providers and are at risk of forced closure because Medicaid payments are not being received. The problem is attributed in part to the state's new Colorado Benefits Management System, according to the News.
