CCHIT names workgroups
EHR Connection, December 6, 2004
To assist in development of an ambulatory care electronic medical records certification program, the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT) created four workgroups:
- Functionality-setting features and functions to meet an initial set of requirements
- Security and Reliability-ensuring data privacy and robustness to prevent data loss
- Interoperability-enabling standards-based data exchange with other sources of healthcare information
- Certification Process- determining how vendors will apply for certification, who and how testing for compliance will be handled, and how the database of certified products will be maintained and publicized
Workgroups of eight to 10 members and two co-chairs will study these four areas.
