CMS requests physician quality field testing
EHR Connection, December 6, 2004
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services(CMS) wants physicians to consider becoming independent field test sites to develop the VistA-Office EHR program. CMS posted a request on its DOQ Web site.
The District of Columbia Department of Health is testing the VistA-Office EHR software in an outpatient clinic. The Iowa Foundation for Medical Care manages the VistA-Office project under CMS contract, Modern Physician reports.
The VistA-Office EHR program requires Internet access and a patient-encounter template. Physicians and office staff can make recommendations for improvements after following the script and using the system, Modern Physician reports. The software is available to the public in July 2005.
