Chain refuses patient and worker bill of rights
LTC Liability Monitor, November 10, 2004
Despite heavy pressure from a local clergy group, a nursing home in Massachusetts will not adopt a patient and worker bill of rights, reported the Boston Globe. The interfaith religious group has presented 25 Boston area facilities with a bill of rights-6 have agreed to adopt it.
Representatives from the Arkansas-based chain that owns the Newton, MA, home told the Globe that the bill of rights adhered to by the home is vastly superior to that of the clergy group. The clergy group has questioned the home's below average staffing ratios. Records show the home scored above average in state inspectional surveys, according to Globe.
