Amputee sues nursing home
LTC Liability Monitor, November 10, 2004
An 80-year-old woman is suing a Napa, CA, nursing home for negligence and elder abuse after she had her foot amputated while a resident, according to the Contra Costa [CA] Times. The woman alleges the facility's employees failed to abide doctor's orders and follow up on an injury, leading to the amputation.
The home is also facing fines from the state of California for separate cases involving resident safety. The facility has countersued the state in response to the fines, reported the Times.
