HIT race in CA off to a quick start
EHR Connection, November 8, 2004
Sutter Health will spend $154 million to implement EHRs in its network of 5,000 physicians, 27 northern California hospitals, 11 independent physician groups, and 6 medical foundations by 2006.
This investment is in addition to the $1.2 billion Sutter already announced it will spend on HIT.
Sutter and Kaiser Permanente are competing to be the first to implement EpicSystem software. Kaiser is spending $1.8 billion over three years on installation-and could complete the project in early 2006.
