New PFS newsletter tackles key issues in revenue cycle management

Press Releases, November 1, 2004

MARBLEHEAD MA-Dedicated to helping healthcare organizations and patient financial services (PFS) directors and managers capitalize on revenue opportunities and improve the bottom line, reduce denied claims, and stay abreast of payer rules, HCPro announces the publication of a new monthly resource.

The premier issue of PFS Advisor, launching this month, zeroes in on one of the industry's leading concerns-charity care. It provides tested strategies and tactics on managing the facility's charity care policy, including key provisions to include, tips on providing discounts, optimizing the role of the financial counselor, and communicating the process to staff.

"PFS directors are under increasing pressure to improve collections, reduce denials, and do a better job of capturing insurance information from patients," says PFS Advisor managing editor Lori Levans. "PFS Advisor answers the call for a combination of real-world strategies, 'how to' advice, analysis of pertinent regulations, key forms and worksheets, and training tools."

Each monthly 12-page issue of PFS Advisor features a training insert for managers to educate staff-from Medicare secondary payer rules to overcoming billing and collection pitfalls.

The newsletter will periodically report benchmarking survey results on topics such as days in accounts receivable, cost to collect, number of FTEs for a revenue cycle department, and policies and percentages for dealing with charity care/uninsured.

Effective revenue cycle management means more than just hearing about problems-it means gathering resources to get those problems fixed. PFS Advisor helps facilities address pain points head on. Subscribe and reap the tested approaches and solutions from industry experts in facilities across the country.
