Test sites sought for new ASC asessment tools

Ambulatory Surgery Reimbursement Update, October 26, 2004

In an attempt to better measure patient satisfaction and solicit feedback pertaining to standards of ambulatory care, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality is soliciting volunteer sites to test its new quality of care assessment tools.

The AHRQ, (part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services) has recently redesigned the Consumer Assessment of Health Plans in a attempt to measure different levels of ambulatory health care from data that directly represents patient's responses. The new tool will include studies of different levels of care, including ambulatory services provided, sites of care, and health plan information, to determine the quality of ambulatory care in individual markets.

The AHRQ is looking for sites to voluntarily test ambulatory care measures, beginning now and continuing into 2005. Test sites must able to pay the cost of data collection and database creation, as well as employing survey vendors and providing an on-site coordinator for the project.
