BCBS-MA will pilot statewide EHR system
EHR Connection, October 25, 2004
Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) of Massachusetts will spend approximately $50 million on an electronic health records pilot program so physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare providers in three Massachusetts communities can share patient records, the Boston Globe reports.
To create a statewide EHR system, BCBS and more than 25 insurers, hospitals, physicians, and medical industry groups formed a nonprofit organization.
The pilot program will involve about 2,000 physicians as well as hospitals, pharmacies, and may include nursing homes and community health centers in the three communities, the Globe reports.
