Government to issue HIT proposals
EHR Connection, October 25, 2004
The Office of Management and Budget added promotion of HIT to the President's management agenda for healthcare agencies, David Brailer, MD, PhD, national coordinator for health information technology, told Government Computer News (GCN).
Brailer told GCN the administration will present initial proposals for possible regulatory revision in effort to promote widespread HIT implementation by July 2005.
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) plans to request industry suggestions in order to develop a "medical Internet" to provide regional health networks, governance, and quality measures. HHS plans to discuss ideas with vendors on an industry day, reports GCN.
