Vendor news: Cerner, Universata announce electronic exchanges
EHR Connection, October 18, 2004
Cerner Corp., an EHR provider, announced a ten-year, $25 million plan to connect all children with Type 1 diabetes with their physicians through the Web-for free.
The company will spend the next five years on research and development.
The program will establish records for each child by keeping track of glucose levels, carbohydrates and insulin injections, with the goal of reducing clinical visits and preventing medical problems. The program will make records available electronically to both the family and providers, reports the company.
Also in vendor news, Universata, Inc. launched the eMRX TM, an electronic medical record exchange to link providers for information exchange. PHI-nd IT TM (pronounced "find it") software, a scanner, and a biometrically-secured laptop power the eMRX network.
