Indiana information exchange ready for use
EHR Connection, October 18, 2004
The Indiana Health Information Exchange is up and running for general use and now connects five major health systems for secure transmission of PHI, Dr. Marc Overhage, president and CEO, told Health-IT World (HITW).
The health systems can now share data from 13 acute-care facilities and dozens of medical practices.
Overhage told HITW he expects 2,500 doctors will be online by the end of the year, and all 3,500 doctors within the health systems will be online by mid-2005.
This information exchange will be the hub of the statewide EHR network as the program expands, according to HITW.
