LTC Liability Monitor, October 7, 2004
A Marathon, WI County jury found the owner of a Kronenwetter, WI-based assisted living facility (ALF) guilty of reckless neglect of a resident whose foot was amputated because gangrene went untreated, according to the Wausau Daily Herald.
Angel of the Glenn owner Glenn Younger was charged two years ago after the Aging and Disability Resource Center-an activity center for elders-discovered that a 91-year-old mentally disabled and diabetic woman from Younger's ALF was suffering from gangrene. T
he center's staff reportedly warned the Glenn of a 'foul smell' weeks before their discovery of the gangrene. Also facing criminal charges is Angel of the Glenn's primary care physician, Pamela M. Hartkopf, reported the Herald.
