Senator Frist appoints HIT members

EHR Connection, October 11, 2004

Senate majority leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) appointed the first two members of the Commission on Systemic Interoperability-a group charged with recommending standards to serve as the base for universal EHR establishment.

Frist named Ivan Seidenberg, chairman and CEO of Verizon Communications Inc. of New York, and Vicky Gregg, CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee. President Bush plans to appoint Scott Wallace, president and CEO of the National Alliance for Health Information Technology as chairman, Government Computer News (GCN) reports.

The president, speaker of the House, and Senate and House minority leaders will name the rest of the 11-person commission, according to GCN.
