State to help residents’ families get refunds
LTC Liability Monitor, September 29, 2004
West Virginia Attorney General Darrell McGraw is suing a long-term care facility for allegedly refusing to refund consumers' money for unused services, reported the Associated Press (AP).
The lawsuit against Regency Park Assisted Living Residence in Huntington also seeks civil penalties. One family member of a former resident-who stayed in the facility only 12 hours-paid approximately $2,557 in December and has yet to see a refund.
Two other residents' family members each paid $72 per day for a month of care, although their relatives died mid-month, AP reported.
