Look for people seeking refuge from winter temperatures in your hospital
Healthcare Security Weekly, September 26, 2004
With winter weather on its way, remember to look for people hiding in your hospital, recommends Linda Glasson, CHPA, security consultant in Suffolk, VA.
Glasson recalls discovering a man sleeping in a three-by-four foot cubbyhole in a hospital classroom one day.
"It was just a quiet place to rest for him," Glasson says. While the man was cooperative and left easily from the facility, Glasson says that may not always be the case.
Make sure you look in rooms, closets, under cabinets, and cubbyhole areas for unsuspecting visitors.
Have you had experience with people seeking refuge in your facility? Let us know how you handled the situation. Please contact Jill Anderson by e-mail Janderson@hcpro.com or call 781/639-2982.
