Judge orders state to halt placements at suspect facilities
LTC Liability Monitor, September 22, 2004
Oklahoma nursing homes being investigated by the state Department of Human Services (DHS) may see a drop in admissions.
A judge will issue a standing order barring DHS from placing clients in nursing homes where agency investigations of abuse and neglect are underway, the Associated Press (AP) reported.
At a Monday hearing, Tulsa County Special District Judge Sarah Day reviewed the case of a resident placed by DHS in Green Country Care Center in Tulsa-where the agency confirmed at least 10 cases of abuse and neglect.
The resident's family claims he was hospitalized numerous times for serious injuries sustained at this facility, AP reported.
