OSHA seeks comments on decontamination document
Infection Control Monitor, August 13, 2004
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) seeks input on a draft document that details best practices for hospitals receiving victims from mass-casualty incidents involving the release of hazardous substances.
The document provides hospitals with guidance in developing and implementing emergency management plans that address the protection of hospital-based emergency department personnel when contaminated victims arrive from mass-casualty incidents. It covers victim decontamination, personal protective equipment, and employee training, among other things.
OSHA will accept public comments until August 30.
