Lax IC procedures at PA hospital lead to citation
Infection Control Monitor, August 6, 2004
A Westmoreland (PA) County hospital is operating under a provisional six-month license after state health officials cited it for lax infection control procedures, the Associated Press reports.
State health officials' surprise inspection at Monsour Medical Center on June 20 led to two-dozen violations of hospital regulations governing patient care. The state Health Department found problems with the facility's plan for controlling common staph infections.
William Raber, the president of Monsour's board of directors, says he was unaware of the latest inspection.
