Cocaine stolen from Florida hospital
Healthcare Security Weekly, August 6, 2004
Lakeland Regional (FL) Medical Center officials are investigating the theft of cocaine from a pharmaceutical supply last week, the Ledger reports.
Hospital spokeswoman Cindy Sternlicht could not disclose the amount of stolen cocaine or any details about the investigation.
The discovery coincides closely with an audit at the facility by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, the Ledger reports.
Hospital employees, who can access the drug supply, underwent a drug test, but no one tested positive for cocaine, Sternlicht said.
