Uninsured Pfizer customers receive prescription cost break
Physician Practice Advisor, July 6, 2004
Pfzier announced plans to increase its current drug-assistance program to offer discounts ranging from 15-37% for roughly 43 million uninsured Americans, according to a Kaiser Family Foundation report.
Uninsured individuals making less than $31,000 a year and uninsured families making less than $45,000 a year will receive 37% discounts. Uninsured individuals and families without prescription drug coverage who earn more than the salary cap will be eligible for a 15% discount. Medicare recipients who receive the $600 subsidy under the new discount card will be eligible to pay a $15 flat fee per Pfizer prescription once they've spent the entire subsidy.
"From now on, all uninsured Americans will have the same purchasing power as larger insurers when buying Pfizer medicines," said Pat Kelly, president of Pfizer's U.S. division. "That means more people can be treated before their conditions become serious."
