Oklahoma health officials threaten SNF’s licensure
LTC Liability Monitor, July 21, 2004
A two-week investigation at Hominy [OK] Nursing Home revealed serious care problems that prompted state health officials to call for the revocation of the facility's license, Associated Press (AP) reported.
In a letter to the nursing home's administrator last week, the health department alleged the facility punished residents by withholding cigarettes, limiting telephone use and family visits, and confiscating residents' personal property.
Additionally, the letter stated the facility failed to protect residents from abuse and resident-on-resident sexual assaults-and did not intervene when assaults occurred, AP reported. Health officials recommended the facility's Medicare and Medicaid licensure be terminated yesterday.
