Bullet strikes PA hospital
Healthcare Security Weekly, July 14, 2004
Someone shot a bullet went through a window, lodging in the wall of Doylestown (PA) Hospital on July 6, according to the Buck County Courier Times. Police are investigating the incident. While no one was hurt, the person fired the handgun between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m., police say.
Three hours later, a hospital worker noticed the bullet hole and reported the finding to police. Some hospital staff reported hearing bangs around that time in the morning, the Courier reports.
"It could have hit someone getting off the elevator in the head," Township Police Chief Stephen White said.
"I don't believe someone was [deliberately] firing at the hospital," a hospital spokesperson said. "[However,] the fact they were firing in a populated area is not good."
Hospital security employees are trained to be alert to suspicious noises, but no one knew a bullet had hit the building until 6 a.m.
