WI hospital is the latest victim of medical equipment theft
Healthcare Security Weekly, July 14, 2004
Thieves walked away with more than $38,000 worth of medical equipment from a La Crosse, WI, hospital last week, the La Crosse Tribune reported.
Over fourth of July weekend, Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center Security Director Mike Pucci said someone took 20 defibrillators, two General Electric Dash 3000 Pro Patient Monitors, and a Dinamap Pro 400 blood pressure machine.
A hospital official told police there is a growing market for high-end hospital equipment on Internet auction sites like eBay, the Tribune reported.
Police investigating the case hope the hospital security camera will track down the perpetrators of the crime.
