Three tips to remember during protests
Healthcare Security Weekly, July 14, 2004
Security should closely watch outside groups' protests. Remember the following three tips if a protest happens on your campus:
* Be leery of what protestors carry. Bill McLean, CHPA, director of corporate security at Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore, took a jab in the stomach from a protestor's tripod. Sometimes, innocent-looking items can be turned into weapons.
* Avoid walking through a demonstration.
* Be wary of activists disguised as employees trying to gain entrance to your facility.
