New primer helps docs tackle evaluation of food poisoning
Physician Practice Advisor, April 20, 2004
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released a primer on the diagnosis and management of foodborne illnesses for primary care and emergency department physicians. The primer is intended to remind physicians about suspicious symptoms and the importance of reporting foodborne illness to public health authorities.
The guide includes summary tables and information on how to talk with patients about preventing foodborne illness. This primer is also designed to help physicians differentiate in cases where the symptoms are only slightly different from normal, flu-like symptoms.
Visit http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/rr5304a1.htm to view the primer.
