Assisted living facility faces abuse allegations
LTC Liability Monitor, March 26, 2004
Brice's Villa, an assisted living facility in Mechanicsville, VA faces allegations of resident abuse and violations of state regulations from the Virginia Office for Protection and Advocacy (VOPA), reported the Richmond [VA] Times Dispatch.
The civil suit filed last week claiming an employee diverted to a third party prescription drugs and hypodermic needles intended for resident use. The suit also accuses the same employee of using controlled substances on facility property and physically abusing a resident.
The VOPA investigated Brice's Villa in 2001 for numerous allegations including physical and verbal abuse, failure to properly treat residents' needs, and improper record keeping, reported the Dispatch.
