Healthcare Security Weekly, February 23, 2004
A woman shot herself with a pistol in an examination room at a Fort Knox hospital last week.
The 58-year-old woman committed suicide after complaining of chest pains and being taken to the Ireland Army Community Hospital, according to the Courier-Journal.
The woman, who was not in the military, stopped at the post's gate and asked to provide her license and registration, a standard procedure since the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Connie Shaffery, public affairs officer, told the Courier.
Shaffery said the shooting remains under investigation, theCourier reports.
