Details of nursing home death remain murky
LTC Liability Monitor, February 12, 2004
Several state and city officials have launched investigations into the death last week of a resident at Far Rockaway nursing home in Queens, NY.
The resident-reportedly last seen at 6:30 p.m. the night of the incident-was found on the facility's roof around 11 p.m. and died two hours later in a nearby hospital, reported the New York Times. It remained unclear how the resident got up to the roof, and whether door locks and alarms were properly used.
Alleging neglect and the possibility of foul play, the resident's family intended to sue, reported the Times. The facility is cooperating with investigators and defending its care.
