Hospital steps up safety awareness after parking lot purse snatchings
Healthcare Security Weekly, January 26, 2004
After two purse snatchings within weeks of each other at the Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, KY, hospital staff say they are increasing safety awareness, the Paducah Sun reports.
Police are still looking for the perpetrators who struck on December 18 and then on January 4 in the hospital parking lot. The police department handles crimes on hospital grounds.
In response to the parking lot purse snatchings, hospital officials scheduled personal safety seminars for employees this week.
While Western Baptist does have a 24-hour security department, as an added precaution security officers are available to escort people to their cars, the Paducah Sun reports.
