2011 ACDIS Conference Sparks Enthusiasm, Ideas for CDI Excellence

Press Releases, April 27, 2011

Fresh off its very successful fourth annual conference, members of ACDIS—the Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists—are back to work with renewed enthusiasm and commitment to serve its membership.

"Attendance at the 2011 conference in Orlando was up 35% over the previous year," says Brian Murphy, ACDIS Director. "That's proof alone of the surging importance of the CDI profession in healthcare. CDI specialists need to have a hub that delivers networking opportunities along with products and training to help them succeed. ACDIS is that hub."

During the conference, Murphy unveiled Clinical Documentation Improvement Week, scheduled for September 19-23, and introduced the association's new 2011 CDI Pocket Guide. Conference tracks included 21 sessions on data mining and reporting, clinical and chart review, new initiatives and ideas in the industry, and ICD-10. Attendees also had an option to take a two-day intensive ICD-10 Boot Camp training course or attend a one-day session dedicated to physician advisors to CDI.

"ICD-10 information and education is a pressing need for CDI professionals," Murphy says. "They will play a significant role in their organizations' transition to the new code set in 2013. ACDIS is the training leader in this area, with the HCPro Clinical Documentation Improvement Boot Camp™."
