Tip: Technology facilitates release of information
EHR Connection, November 3, 2008
Release of information is a business function that requires a dedicated software application that is sufficiently robust to address its many facets.
Your software should provide the capability to:
- Log requests, monitor their status, and annotate their completion
- Capture information for accounting of disclosures, invoicing for copies, monitoring accounts receivable, and generating letters pertaining to requests and any outstanding accounts
- Manage work volume
- Monitor operational and staff performance monthly, quarterly, and at other frequencies
- Print labels for use in mailing requested copies
Proper equipment and software selection will allow staff members to perform their duties efficiently.
