Use a checklist for fire safety
Lab Safety Advisor, September 30, 2008
Protecting employees and preventing fires is very important in the laboratory. Having a checklist to be sure you have covered everything is helpful. The Hanford Fire Department has provided a generic checklist for you on their Web site.
For the lab you should make sure you have an evacuation map posted that includes the locations of each fire alarm pull, each exit, each extinguisher, and any hoses. In addition, you should designate individuals to provide fire training and to test the alarm system once a year.
